Characteristics

This is a very popular hardy perennial that can flower from late spring into summer and often as late as autumn. With flowers of yellow, orange or red, although sometimes peach and pale pink, this plant will reach heights of around 50cm so is perfect for the middle or the front of your borders. Sometimes known as Avems, you can also plant Geums in pots. Perfect for attracting bees and butterflies!

Care

Geums can be planted in late summer and autumn, or in early spring, when the ground is not dry or frozen. They love moist but well-drained soil in a sunny spot that also enjoys a bit of shade. Deadhead plants after flowering and split clumps every few years.

This fairly low-maintenance plant will enjoy a liquid fertiliser every now and then.
